Wanting it Badly Enough
So we have all heard the expression..
“You just don’t want it badly enough”
And it is used flippantly by a lot of people in may situations:
✅ I was doing great but then had a muffin
“Well you clearly don’t want to lose weight badly enough”
✅ Had a stressful day at work so got a chippy on the way home
“Well you clearly don’t want to lose weight badly enough”
✅ It was my birthday so enjoyed drinks and cake
“Well you clearly don’t want to lose weight badly enough”
And so on…
Some people in my industry would argue and say that’s not fair to say, it’s not as easy as that. It’s flippant and irresponsible to say ‘you don’t want it badly enough”, because dieting is not easy.
I know this, and I agree that dieting is not easy, good lord I struggle with the best of em, BUT
THE TRUTH IS…
IN ANY SITUATION
REGARDLESS OF ANYTHING
If you want to lose weight badly enough
YOU WILL FIND A WAY
PERIOD.
For example:
If you were told that consuming anything with sugar in EVER again would IMMEDIATELY give you a heart attack
You would not eat anything with sugar in, ever again
Because the motivation of wanting to stay alive was stronger than the urge to eat sugar
Harsh, but a perfect example.
You can diet, in ANY situation if you want to (and want it badly enough)
You CAN ignore the comments from family and friends, you CAN go out and enjoy yourself without copious amounts of alcohol, you CAN go out and eat and only eat a starter AS your main course, you CAN track allowances and stick to them even if hungry
“Oh but James I can’t go to my mother in laws and tell her I am dieting, she thinks I am fine as I am, you just don’t understand”
BUT you would tell her you can’t eat her cake if it had sugar in!
“Oh but James the girls always get drunk on a Friday night, don’t think they would be my friend if didn’t drink with them”
BUT you would give up a regular donut eating Friday night session, if the donuts had sugar in…
My point is it is all about balance and focus
You think you want to lose weight, and I have no doubt you do, but if you find yourself in a dark place, desperate with your weight situation and really want to do something about it, understand that there are 2 levels
✅ I will do my best but my life is hard
And
✅ I really want this and absolutely NOTHING and NO ONE is going to stop me
You simply need to find your place between those 2 levels, accept the results that come from your choice and crack on.
At the end of the day YES I am all for having a life, but for most of you, having a life gets out of control and the dieting journey just goes on and on and on.
There has to be a point where you push that bit harder, make the extra sacrifice, say no to new people, and actually GET a result!
